Go online when you want to work
Requests reach you only while you are online in the driver app. A quiet morning at home costs you nothing, and there is no shift to sign up for.

See the job before you accept it
A request arrives with the pickup, the destination and the fare for that route. You decide whether the trip is worth taking before you commit to it, not after.

Confirm the rider with the PIN
At pickup the rider reads out the PIN shown in their app. It confirms you have the right passenger for the right trip before anyone moves.

Finish and see what you earned
When the trip completes, the fare, Topsy's commission on it and what is left for you are recorded against that trip. Your wallet balance moves with it.
How the money reaches you
Topsy does not quote you a weekly figure, because what you earn depends on the hours you work and the trips you accept. What it does do is show the arithmetic on every single job.
Riders can pay with MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, a card or cash, so a trip is not lost because a passenger has no notes on them.
- Per trip
- The fare for the route, less Topsy's commission. Both are recorded on the trip.
- App payments
- The rider pays in the app, and your earning is credited to your Topsy wallet.
- Cash trips
- You keep the cash at drop-off. The commission for that trip is recorded as a balance owed and settled from later earnings.
- Payouts
- Request a withdrawal from your wallet balance to the bank or mobile money details on your account.
- Currency
- Every fare, commission and payout is in Ghana cedis (GH₵).
Driving is not the only route
The same application and the same driver app cover passenger trips and delivery work. If the vehicle is the problem rather than the work, there are two answers to that as well.
What you need to hand
- A valid driver licence, with its number and expiry date
- A photo of the licence, clear enough to read
- Your vehicle registration number and licence plate
- Photos of the vehicle registration and the insurance
- A photo of the vehicle itself
- Your ID details, date of birth and home address
- A phone number and email address you actually use
The same form covers delivery work. Choose Delivery as the type and register the bike or car you will carry parcels with.
Before you apply
Do I need my own car?
You can apply with a vehicle you own. If you do not have one, look at Drive-to-Own for a structured path to ownership, or at a fleet placement if you would rather drive someone else's vehicle.
How long does approval take?
Your documents are reviewed by the Topsy team rather than approved automatically. When you submit the form you are given a private status link, so you can check the review yourself instead of calling to ask.
Can I choose between rides and deliveries?
The application asks which type of work you want. Delivery couriers receive Topsy Send jobs, ride drivers receive passenger trips, and the driver app is the same either way.
Is there a fee to join?
The application takes no payment. Topsy earns a commission on the trips it sends you, which is shown on each completed trip.
What happens when a rider pays cash?
You keep the cash at drop-off. The commission on that trip is recorded against your wallet and settled from later earnings, so you are not counting out change for Topsy at the end of the day.
Do I have to drive every day?
No. You go online when you want work and offline when you do not. Nothing reaches you while you are offline.
