Topsy carries the order, the pharmacy dispenses it
This is worth stating plainly before anything else. Topsy is not a pharmacy, it does not sell medicine, and it does not give medical or clinical advice. It connects you to pharmacies that have registered as Topsy stores, and it moves what they agree to dispense.
- Everyday health products
- Items a pharmacy sells over the counter are ordered like anything else in the Topsy app: pick the pharmacy, add what you need, pay, and follow the delivery.
- Restricted categories are marked
- Some categories are set as needing a prescription. Every product in one carries that flag, and the app shows it on the product and again in your basket, so you know before you check out rather than after.
- The pharmacist decides
- Whether an item can be dispensed to you, and whether the prescription you sent covers it, is the pharmacy's professional judgement. Topsy does not overrule it and does not make it for them.
- Nothing is diagnosed here
- The app has no symptom checker and offers no recommendation about what to take. If you are unsure what you need, that is a conversation for a pharmacist or a doctor, not an ordering screen.
How a prescription moves through an order

The item tells you it needs one
A product in a restricted category is flagged in the app before you add it, and the flag stays visible on the line in your basket.

You attach it at checkout
A photograph of the prescription is uploaded with the order. Take it in good light and make sure the whole page is in frame, because the pharmacist has to be able to read it.

The pharmacy reviews it
The order lands on the pharmacy's dashboard with the prescription attached. Until a pharmacist has looked at it, the prescription sits as awaiting review.

Approved, and the order moves
A pharmacy cannot accept an order whose prescription has not been approved. Accepting an order is also what calls a courier, so nothing leaves the counter until that decision has been made.

Rejected, with a reason you can act on
If the pharmacist rejects it, you are notified with the note they wrote, and you can upload a clearer or a correct one. A new upload returns the prescription to awaiting review and tells the pharmacy to look again.
Three states, and what each one means
The status of your prescription is visible in the order, along with any note the pharmacy left on it. You are not left guessing whether anyone has looked.
The order itself keeps its own separate timeline, from placed through to delivered, with a timestamp on every step.
- Awaiting review
- Uploaded, and nobody at the pharmacy has decided yet. The order cannot be accepted in this state.
- Approved
- The pharmacist accepted it. The order can now be accepted, prepared and dispatched.
- Rejected
- The pharmacist declined it and wrote a note saying why. You can upload again from the same order.
- Re-uploading
- Replaces the previous image and puts the prescription back to awaiting review, with the pharmacy notified.
- Cancelling
- Possible while the order is still Placed. If it was already paid for, the full amount returns to your Topsy wallet.
Worth having to hand
- The prescription itself
- The physical page, ready to photograph. A screenshot of a screenshot is where most rejections come from.
- The address you want it delivered to
- Which pharmacies appear depends on where you are sending the order, so set the address before you start building the basket.
- Time for a human decision
- A pharmacist reviews the prescription rather than a system approving it automatically. If this is urgent, it is worth calling the pharmacy as well.
- A way to pay
- Mobile money asks for the network as well as the number, and the two have to match. Cash to the courier is also an option.

- The courier is called once the pharmacy accepts the order
- Their position appears on your map from the moment they collect it
- Handover is confirmed with a four-digit code at your door
- Pay by MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, card, Topsy wallet or cash
- Every figure and every receipt is in Ghana cedis (GH₵)
Deliveries run across Greater Accra. Which pharmacies you can order from depends on how close they are to your delivery address.
Before your first order
Can I order medicine on this website?
No. Topsy Medicine runs in the Topsy customer app, and this page exists to explain it. Rides and Topsy Send deliveries can be booked here on the web.
Does Topsy decide whether I can have a medicine?
No. The pharmacy reviews the prescription and decides what it can dispense. Topsy carries the order and the delivery.
What if my prescription is rejected?
You are notified with the note the pharmacist wrote, and you can upload again from the same order. The new upload goes back for review and the pharmacy is told to look at it.
Can I order for someone else?
The order is placed from your account and delivered to the address you choose. Whether a particular prescription can be filled for a third party is a question for the pharmacy, not for the app.

I run a pharmacy. Can I list it?
Yes. Pharmacies register as Topsy stores, and the prescription review step runs in the same dashboard as the orders. The merchant page explains registration.
