Tema, Ashaiman and the eastern corridor
Travelling east is a different problem from travelling across Accra.
Journeys between Accra and the Tema side have their own character. The distances are longer than an intra-city trip, the road is a corridor rather than a network, and the traffic pattern is shaped by industry and the port as much as by commuting.
Plan for the corridor, not the distance
On a clear road the trip is straightforward. In the wrong window it is not, and there are fewer alternative routes than crossing central Accra, which means congestion has less anywhere to disperse to.
Booking ahead matters more here than for a short hop, simply because a trip that starts late has fewer ways to recover.
Choose a vehicle for the run
This is longer than a typical city trip. Comfort over Economy is a small difference in fare and a real difference in a forty-minute journey, particularly in the middle of the day.
For a group with luggage travelling to or from the port area, XL removes an argument in a car park.
Ashaiman and Madina
Both are dense, both have areas where a geocoded address lands some distance from where a car can actually stop, and both reward a dragged pickup pin and a written note more than almost anywhere else in the region.
"Near the station" is not a pickup point. "Opposite the pharmacy on the main road, before the junction" is.
Coverage
Topsy operates across the Greater Accra Region, and the coverage pages list the towns currently served. That coverage is deliberately regional rather than national: advertising a service into a town with no drivers produces a bad first experience and a deleted app.
If you are travelling to somewhere outside the region, that is an intercity trip rather than a local one, and it is worth pricing before planning the day around it.
Deliveries along the corridor
Send deliveries follow the same geography. A parcel moving between Accra and Tema is a real journey, and the delivery quote reflects it. For businesses moving goods along the corridor regularly, the merchant and business pages describe the arrangements that suit repeat volume better than one-off bookings.
