Getting to Kotoka for an early flight
Airport trips fail for the same four reasons. All are avoidable the night before.
An airport run is the trip with the least tolerance for going wrong. It is also, for that reason, the trip most worth preparing.
Schedule it, do not hail it
Book it the night before with a pickup time. The search for your driver runs ten minutes before that time, so it happens whether or not you are awake enough to remember. Cancelling before that window is free, so an early booking costs nothing.
Set the time you want to be collected
Not the time you would like to arrive. Work backwards: check-in cut-off, the road at that hour, the walk from the drop-off. Accra traffic is the variable no platform can solve for you, and the evening peak in particular is not a thing to be optimistic about.
Choose for the luggage
The single most common airport error is booking for the number of passengers. Four people with four suitcases do not fit in a saloon car, and you will find this out in a car park at four in the morning. XL exists for exactly this.
Write the terminal and the entrance
For a pickup at the airport, the terminal and the specific meeting point matter more than anywhere else, because the forecourt is busy and cars cannot linger. In the app the flight reference can be attached to the booking; on the website, put it in the notes.
For a drop-off, the note is less critical, but the pickup pin at your end still is.
Share the trip
If someone is meeting you, share the trip. They will see the car and the plate and its position without needing an account, which is considerably better than a phone call from a moving vehicle.
The PIN, again
At a busy forecourt with several waiting cars and several people being called by name, the PIN is what settles which car is yours. Have it ready.
If the flight moves
Cancel and rebook for the new time. Because no driver is assigned until ten minutes before, an early change costs nothing at all.
